“The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” From the first line of his book, Mark makes it clear that this entire narrative is one about the good news of Jesus as King, most clearly revealed through His curse-reversing, kingdom-inaugurating earthly ministry. This is the Kingdom Jesus came to establish - the lame walk, the blind see, the dead live, the marginalized are included and loved, spiritual captives are set free from sin, and this good news is boldly proclaimed by His people from the neighborhoods to the nations.

Mark

Mark 7:24-37

In this sermon, Abe mentions that Mark is the only gospel author to record the story of the Syrophoenician woman's faith, the first of two stories in the passage he was teaching. However, Matthew also records this story in Matthew 15:21-28. He mistakenly said this because Mark is the only gospel author to record the story of the healing of the deaf man in the region of the Decapolis, the second story in the passage.
