Acts 27-28

July 3, 2016

In these final two chapters we see Paul’s long journey to Rome come to completion—though not without a few setbacks along the way. Rome would be the final destination for the apostle Paul, though he sought to make the most of it. As the heart of the known world in his day, he pursued every opportunity in his time there, “proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.”

Acts 23-26

June 26, 2016

These chapters contain a series of meetings, or hearings, of the apostle Paul as the religious leaders continue to bring false charges and accusations against him. At the outset of this long journey, the Lord speaks to Paul saying, “Take courage, for as you have testified to the facts about me in Jerusalem, so you must testify also in Rome” (Acts 23:11)—and with that the stage is set.

Acts 21-22

June 19, 2016

In these chapters we see the beginnings of Paul’s final journey. Following the farewell to the elders in Ephesus (Acts 20:17-38), Paul now sets his sights on Jerusalem despite the strong warnings from his friends and a prophet (Acts 21:10-14). Determined to go on to Jerusalem, whatever the cost, his party sets out and meets up with James and the other elders.

We resume our journey in the book of Acts, making one final push to the end of our Expand / Establish series. The story picks up following the riots in Ephesus (Acts 20:1; c.f. Acts 19:21-41) with the apostle Paul continuing to travel throughout the regions of Macedonia and Greece, encouraging the churches there.
