Kingdom Citizens

Love The City

January 15, 2017

We will begin 2017 by continuing to examine what it means to be Kingdom Citizens. In the summer of 2016 we looked at the broader implications of our identity through the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7. Now we turn our attention to the practical reality of living under the good rule and reign of Christ Jesus here and now. If we are Kingdom Citizens, then the gospel will shape every aspect of our lives. From our private devotion to our public declaration, our whole being is shaped by the transforming work of Christ.

While many Jews had long anticipated the coming Messiah and the Kingdom of God, their expectations were often rooted in personal hope and ambition. With these words, Jesus sets the stage for what true citizenship looks like.
